for any of you that know me, or just read this blog, you will know i love fashion. i love seeing motion in fashion, i love the emotion that many fashion campaigns evoke. i love incorporating fashion into my wedding photography. to me, the bride is the model for the day – it is all about making her look her very best. it is what keeps me creative and excited about wedding photography actually. the chance to create something new each and every wedding.

so when i get to shoot fashion with real models and lighting and stylists, it is a real treat for me. i get to slow down, enjoy the process and allow myself the time to get creative.

ines di santo is one of the most well known wedding gown designers here in toronto (and worldwide). to photograph with her dresses is always an honor. they are beautifully made and the textures, the fabrics, the cuts & flow of the dresses makes my job so much easier.

this photo shoot was at the toronto botanical gardens

this little black dress was a favorite from the day.

this dress was gorgeous, a short mini in the front with this dramatic flowing train in the back. just amazing to photograph.

ok, so every now and then, alex gets to shoot a project that he gets totally excited about. wait… that’s like every shoot he does.

he recently had the opportunity to shoot with sweet seraphine, a bridal shop in oakville, trula finch (makeup), disegno donata (jewlery & headpieces) and paletta mansion (a wedding venue in burlington). he had an amazing time, check out a sneak peek of these amazing images.

vera wang toronto – tanya’s bridal dress fitting

obviously if you are a woman reading this blog – you have dreamed and drooled over vera wang dresses. you have watched the runway shows with the gorgeous models and thought – yes, that will be me on my wedding day – that’s the dress!!!

well we had our very own model to photograph at the ever fabulous vera wang toronto. they have some of the best wedding dresses on the market. ok well not only does vera do amazing couture wedding dresses, but we totally love the staff there – they loooooove what they do and they are just lovely.

so before tanya and aldrin’s engagement photos (see post below) we thought it would be so cool to do a “final dress fitting” photo shoot first.

and here’s our beautiful tanya after they did the final check on the fit of the dress. she loves it!!!!! i think it is the perfect choice for her destination wedding in thailand. simple (as in not poufy) but sophisticated and sexy. it always amazes me that everyone has their perfect wedding dress that just totally suits them – this one is hers!

josh – toronto actor headshots

every now and then we get the pleasure of shooting actor headshots. they are always a creative collaboration of what the actor/actress wants and what we see working for them. josh is a young guy with such passion! he is going for his dream and you know what? it is inspiring! you go josh! here is the one he chose from his toronto actor headshot shoot.

rethink breast cancer event- burroughes buildings toronto

this post comes with a bit of hesitation only because i have to admit my nievity.

i had no idea that over 4000 women in ontario that were under the age of 40 are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. wow. that is a daunting number to be faced with.

even with those grim numbers, somehow rething breast cancer’s romp event was a celebration! a celebration for survivors, a unified atmosphere determined to beat this thing and a fundraising goal to raise awareness. i am officially a supporter of rething breast cancer.

so our job was to simply take photos that night. but alex didn’t want to do the usual event photography and given that the theme was flappers from the 1920 era, which in my opinion was the most gamorous era ever, the night lent itself to a more dramatically lit scene to document the romp ensembles. backdrop: the beautiful burroughes buildings (queen west – toronto). prop: gorgeous red gibson piano.

dayna – toronto model / actor headshots

this post is super exciting for us because how often do you get to shoot gorgeous models like this? i mean, dayna was a serious cross between denise richards and angelina jolie. hotness!

dayna came to us asking for some glamour/acting/model headshots. one look at her and we were all over that… “this will be fun” alex and i agreed. obviously our main part of our business is wedding photography but it is fun to switch things up now & then, you know?

so off to some oakville horse stables…

this next one was what denise chose as her headshot. cute, polite… but still totally smokin’!!! it’s those eyes eh?

ines di santo & veronica di santo atelier – milano, italy

after the drive from switzerland to milan, we arrived at the five star hotel, the gray. seriously, after the craziness of driving in italy (absolutely not recommended for anyone with heart problems), all we wanted to do was just check in and enjoy… this hotel is awesome (see last post)! we were so excited to be shooting in such a wicked spot.

ines di santo is a super talented dress designer here in toronto. john, from grace ormonde’s wedding style magazine, introduced us to her daughter veronica di santo and we were sooooooooooooo lucky to be able to shoot two of her bridal gowns in italy. thank you veronica!!! the two dresses were absolute luxury.

hotel the gray – milan, italy

red rock hotel

our great friend holly came through once again. setting up a shoot in vegas is a tradition now so this year we all said ‘go big or go home’ and we set out to do something very cool. so holly tells us she has a ‘plan b’ incase the weather isn’t good and we can’t do the red rock canyon. this little ‘plan b’ was a $20,000/night penthouse in the famous red rock hotel. so get this…marble floors through out, a plasma bigger than a house, snake skin pillows, dedon furnature outside on the patio which by the way, spans 180 degrees. that’s right, the penthouse wraps around the top of the hotel to offer a spectacular 180 degree view of the Vegas mountains and cityscape. i felt like mariah carey. i bet she had stayed there. i felt her vibes! =)so after the initial freakout, we got to work. and this folks, is what we came up with… unfortunately tim (timothy noonan), jenn’s husband didn’t get too much of a spotlight in these few photos. sorry tim – jenn stole the show!!! tim is a super cool guy who is a magician and has been doing magic worldwide for fourteen years. such an amazing chemistry between these two. hard work for them to make out all day eh?needless to say, red rock canyon (plan a) never happened, not with surroundings such as those! thank you again holly for hooking up the hotel. you rock the nation girl!

lesley giles bridal shoot

lesley giles is the amazing dress designer who we were shooting for. she owns a boutique in oakville, canada. this gorgeous wedding gown was flown to shanghai with us and fit the model perfectly!
