i thought since alex is still away in haiti, i would post a wedding from this past summer. here is the recap i wrote a while back but never posted because there were so many photos and stories, i had to try and pair it down a bit!!!
oh my goodness we just shot an unbelievable wedding in manhattan new york. i almost don’t know where to start. i guess that i am so grateful to be shooting weddings and feel so blessed to have met amanda & sal – the sweetest, nicest people you could ever meet.
the weekend whirlwind was so much fun. how cool is our job when we get flown into new york for the weekend? i think that is what made us feel so honored, right from the get go. amanda and sal had connected to our work after viewing the online portfolio and just the fact that they chose us, considering all the amazingly talented new york wedding photographers, was a true honor.
i am not sure how to discribe in words how much we love this family. amanda and sal have gone out of there to make us feel like family. but it’s time like this when being a wedding and portrait photographer becomes the best job in the world. being able to have people welcome you into their home and feel like a family member. wow. i seriously can’t think of too many other jobs like that. i suppose it would be a little awkward if your plumber gave you a hug and a kiss when the job was done! ha! maybe this world needs to see some changes eh?!
ok so the wedding day began with a really relaxed breakfast at our hotel and then off to the grooms house. this is when it starts getting good…
everyone was there, family, friends, grandparents and of course the groomsmen (all 12 of them)!

the groom sal and his brother/best man.

when we arrived, we were greeted by sal’s dad who’s smile could melt any heart instantly. as i chatted with him i found he was a man that loves his family deeply, would do anything for them, is deeply respected and is sincere. all of this within seconds of meeting mr. iacono. he was so proud of his son sal and the woman he was about to marry. as the groomsmen gathered in a room to toast the groom, mr. iacono told me the bottle of scotch he was opening was given to him by his father years ago and he had saved it to for this very moment. i imagined him walking by that bottle displayed in the kitchen, wondering who sal would eventually choose to marry. the moment was finally here! you could tell he was so excited to break that seal and offer it to the groomsmen. as he raised his glass to toast his son he told stories of sal and him throwing a baseball around in the backyard and how that very morning sal asked to throw the ball with him once again. i admittedly had more than just one tear in my eye, it was beautiful.

as you can tell, we instantly fell in love with the entire iacono family. congratulations to this amazing family that has obviously worked so hard to stay close and the reward is so apparent. your love for eachother is inspiring.

whew, the day was off to an emotional start and we hadn’t even seen the bride yet! are you feeling the wave of emotion that is growing as the story continues? i hope so because if you were there, you would know how emotional this ay really was.
over at the bride’s house, the mood was a lot quieter and calm. almost like a hush before amanda put her dress on…

and there she is…

sooooooooo gorgeous and perfect and just… gorgeous! amanda was just beaming!

awwwww, and amanda’s parents were just as proud. huge smiles on their faces, looking at their little girl about to get married. so amazing.

her two bridesmaids were sal’s sisters…

arriving at the church. so exciting!

and there it is… one of my favorite shots at every wedding – when the groom sees his bride. but sal’s smile – oh man, that smile. his face just lights up. everyone in that church could see his amazing love for her right there, in his smile. and amanda sure is smiling right back!

you may now kiss the bride!!!!! woo hoo!

hurray! they did it! yipeeeee!

alex had to jump to get this group shot (in what felt like 1000 degree heat). but it worked!

wedding party photos!!!

oh don’t you just love amanda’s looooong veil?

just before we left for the reception, we spotted this bright yellow wall! i think it was a construction zone but it looked great as a backdrop!!!
amanda & sal, havin’ some fun:

we arrived at tavern on the green in record time. no traffic in new york? it must have been just for amanda & sal i’m sure of it (wink).

tavern on the green is one of the best wedding venues in manhattan new york (it’s right in central park). all kinds of celebrities have had events or wedding there! it is just gorgeous – amanda & sal were our celebrities, and we got to be their paparazzi!

artwork inside:

guests enjoying a few cocktails outside. check out the lanterns! I loooooved that is created this amazing “backyard patio party” ambiance.

inside was so impressive. the staff at tavern on the green were amazing and everything was perfect. with such elaborate surroundings, amanda chose a simple color scheme and white centerpieces were perfect.

again just simple white, the cake was a masterpiece!

as the sun set and guests started to settle into the evening, amanda & sal enjoyed their first dance as husband and wife.

to a smokin’ live band, guests danced the night away.

it was a perfect day. in so many ways, this one is so unforgettable for us. lanterns under a starfilled sky. that is reason number 114.

amanda and sal, from the very bottom of our hearts, thank you for having us with you as you became mr & mrs. sal iacono. if ever two wedding photographers felt more like guests that wedding photographers at a wedding it was us – thank you.

This wedding is stunning! you 2 have really created some exceptional imagery. I love the portraits of the bride and groom in front of the green bush and the 2nd last lantern shot.
